November 25th is "International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women," as designated by the United Nations. As explained by Feminist Law Professors, "the date was selected to commemorate the lives of the Mirabal sisters, who were assassinated on November 25, 1960 during the Trujillo dictatorship."
